Brian Porter is President and Chief Executive Officer of Scotiabank.

Brian joined Scotiabank in 1981, and has progressed through a series of increasingly senior positions across the Bank, including executive roles with Global Banking and Markets, Global Risk Management, Group Treasury and International Banking. Brian served as the Bank’s Chief Risk Officer from 2005 to 2008, as Group Head of Risk & Treasury from 2008 to 2010 and as Group Head of International Banking from 2010 to 2012. He was appointed President of Scotiabank in November 2012, and was elected to the Scotiabank Board of Directors in April 2013. Brian assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer on November 1, 2013.

Brian contributes his time and expertise to many industry, educational, community, health and arts organizations. He is a board member of the Business Council of Canada, the Council of the Americas and the Washington-based Institute of International Finance (IIF), where he serves as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer. In 2017, Brian was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees of University Health Network (UHN), the largest health-care and medical research organization in North America. He is also the Chair of the United Way of Greater Toronto 2018 fundraising campaign.

Brian earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University, and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree from Dalhousie University in 2008. He is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Business School.

Brian and his wife, Megan, have three children.

Nacho was appointed as Strategic Advisor to the President and CEO, for Global Digital Banking, in January 2016. He was subsequently appointed Group Head, International Banking and Digital Transformation, in February 2016.

As a Group Head with executive responsibility for International Banking, Nacho oversees all of the International Bank’s personal, small business and commercial banking operations globally outside of Canada. Nacho also has executive responsibility for leading the digital transformation of Scotiabank, reimagining and simplifying the customer experience.

Prior to joining Scotiabank, Nacho was a member of the Global Executive Committee of a leading European-based global bank, where he was Chairman and CEO of Mexico’s largest bank, Head of South America, and Global Head of Retail Banking.

Nacho is a graduate of Instituto Politécnico Nacional in Mexico City and has a Master of Engineering Administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Jake Lawrence was appointed Co-Group Head, Global Banking and Markets in December, 2018. In this role, Jake specifically holds oversight of Scotiabank’s Global Capital Markets businesses, focused on building alignment across product groups and priority markets to best serve our clients throughout our global footprint.

He continues to provide leadership and management of Scotiabank’s Global Banking and Markets in the U.S. including the overall strategic direction and execution of Scotiabank’s U.S. businesses.

Jake joined Scotiabank in 2002 and has held progressively senior roles in the Finance and Group Treasury and Global Banking and Markets teams. He was previously Senior Vice President and Deputy Treasurer, responsible for Scotiabank’s wholesale funding activities, including securitization and regulatory capital, as well as liquidity management. Jake also served as Senior Vice President, Investor Relations for the Bank, and was responsible for the coordination of the office of Scotiabank’s President and CEO and related communications activities.

Jake holds an Honours BA from Lakehead University and an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier School of Business and Economics.

Barb is the Group Head and Chief Human Resources Officer, with global responsibility for Human Resources, Marketing, Real Estate, Global Communications and Social Enterprise across Scotiabank. As a member of the Bank’s operating committee, she is responsible for helping to determine and guide the overall strategic direction of the Bank.

Previously, Barb held the positions of CHRO, Marketing, PCA; Executive Vice President, Global Wealth Management; Executive Vice President, Wealth Management, Canada; and Executive Vice President, Marketing, Sales & Service.

She joined the Bank in 1982 and has held progressively senior positions in retail banking, credit cards, marketing, sales and service, wealth management and human resources.

Barb graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours degree in Environmental Studies, and was recognized as the 2012 Alumni of the Year. She is also a graduate of the Queen’s University Executive Program. In 2010, she was inducted into Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 Hall of Fame by the Women’s Executive Network. She sits on the board of Bayview Glen School, and the Humber River Hospital in Toronto, as well as a variety of the Bank’s internal subsidiary boards.

Barb is married and has two sons.

In his current role as Co-Group Head, James has global management responsibility for Investment Banking, Global Business Payments and Corporate Banking. His focus is on leading strategic direction and alignment, leveraging key growth opportunities and enhancing customer relationships while strengthening risk and governance oversight. He was appointed to this position in December, 2018.

Since joining Scotiabank in 1985, James has held a variety of leadership positions in areas including: Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Wealth Management, International Banking and Global Banking and Markets. Most recently, James held the position of Global Head of Corporate and Investment Banking.

James earned a BA in Economics and Political Science at McMaster University and completed the Ivey Executive Program at Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario.

Dan Rees was appointed Group Head, Canadian Banking in June 2019.  In this role, Dan leads our Personal and Commercial Banking and Insurance businesses in Canada. Dan also oversees  Global Operations with Nacho Deschamps, Group Head, International Banking & Digital Transformation.  

Over the course of his career, Dan has developed a track record of success in driving results and building strong teams. He first joined Scotiabank in 2000 and has held a number of increasingly senior roles in Canadian Banking, Wealth Management, Global Banking and Markets, Global Risk Management and International Banking. He was, most recently, Group Head, Operations responsible for developing a bank-wide approach to efficiency and continuous improvement and for ensuring that key functional areas partner effectively with the business lines to improve our customer experience.  Prior to that appointment, Senior Vice President, Leadership in Human Resources, responsible for recruiting and developing the most senior level talent at the Bank.

Dan graduated from Queen’s University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Economics Degree. He also earned a Master’s of Science in Management from The London School of Economics.

Dan is a member of The Scotiabank Women Initiative Advisory Board. He was the Honorary Chair for the 2018 Ride to Conquer Cancer in support of Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation and led Scotiabank’s ride teams from 2017-2019.

Dan is married to Kelly. They live in Toronto and have one son and two daughters.

As Group Head and Chief Technology Officer at Scotiabank, Michael has responsibility for the advancement of Scotiabank’s overall technology strategy while planning jointly the digital strategy. His mandate includes overall responsibility for Information Technology & Solutions (IT&S), globally.

Before joining Scotiabank in 2014 as Senior Vice President & Head, Risk Management Information Technology, Michael held senior positions in IT, including President and Chief Operating Officer at Algorithmics and Vice President, Risk Analytics at IBM. Most recently, he was Chief Technology Officer and prior to that appointment, Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Information Technology, Enterprise Technology.  He was also instrumental in building Scotiabank’s initial digital blueprint and launching the Digital Factory.

Michael holds a Master of Science in Social and Economic Sciences in Commerce, a Master of Business Administration in Finance and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Economics. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences and on the Advisory Board of the Creative Destruction Lab through the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Michael is married and has three children.

Ian Arellano was appointed Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Scotiabank on January 2, 2018. In this role, Ian is responsible for managing and overseeing globally Scotiabank’s legal affairs. Ian also manages and oversees the Corporate Governance Office and the Corporate Secretary’s Department. Ian first joined Scotiabank on September 1, 2017 as Executive Vice President, Legal.

Prior to joining Scotiabank, Ian worked at Torys LLP where he was co-head of the firm’s International Initiative and a senior partner in its corporate transactions practice. During his time at Torys LLP, he advised Scotiabank on many transactions, including acquisition of a 51% stake in Banco Colpatria in Colombia, the acquisition of Citigroup’s retail and commercial banking assets in Panama and Costa Rica, and of the bank’s 51% stake in Cencosud’s S.A.’s financial services business in Chile.

Ian graduated with an LL.B from the University of Toronto and was called to the Bar in 1986. With over thirty years of practice, he has held increasingly senior roles and developed extensive experience across the financial services and mining sectors in M&A, joint ventures and strategic alliances, licensing and other contractual matters. He has been recognized by numerous organizations for his work including being named a Leading Lawyer in Corporate Law by Best Lawyers in Canada (2013-2017).

Appointed in November, 2018, Paul provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight of the Audit Function globally. The mandate of the Audit function is to provide enterprise-wide independent, objective assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of Scotiabank’s internal controls, risk management and governance processes.

Paul joined Scotiabank in 2000 and has served in increasingly senior roles at the Bank including Global Banking and Markets Operations, CFO of the International Bank, and most recently the Bank’s Chief Auditor. Prior to joining Scotiabank, he worked at KPMG specializing in auditing the results of mining and financial services corporations in South Africa and Canada.

Paul is a Chartered Accountant from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and holds a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation as well.

Paul and his wife, Vicki, have one son.

John was appointed Executive Vice President, Retail Distribution in December, 2018. In this role he is responsible for defining and implementing the strategic direction, goals and execution of key initiatives for Retail Banking in Canada. John oversees all of Canadian Branch Banking and Small Business Banking.

John joined the Bank in 1998 and has held progressively senior positions in Wealth Management, Marketing and Retail Banking. Most recently he was Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, responsible for all global marketing, sponsorship, philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility activities, including securing the 20-year partnership between Scotiabank and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and the naming of Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of SCENE.

John attended the University of Toronto and is a graduate of the Ivey Executive Program at the University of Western Ontario. He sits on the board of the National Gallery of Canada and is the executive champion of the Scotiabank Giller Prize.

John and his wife Carrie have three sons – Riley, Cuan and Owen.

Glen Gowland was appointed Executive Vice President, Global Wealth Management on June 1, 2018. In this role, he is responsible for growing Scotiabank’s wealth management revenues globally and executing strategies that deliver total wealth solutions to the Bank’s current and prospective clients.

Glen has over 25 years of investment management and banking experience. Since joining Scotiabank in 2000, he has held senior leadership roles in Wealth Management and Asset Management. Most recently he served as Senior Vice President and Head, Canadian Asset Management. He has served and chaired numerous Boards, including Co-Chair of Scotia Capital, and Chairman of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada.

Glen is very active in competitive sports and coaching. He is a Level 4 ski instructor and examiner with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance, as well as an active mentor in the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation.

Mike Henry was appointed Executive Vice President, Enterprise Risk Governance for Scotiabank in June 2019. In this role, Mike is accountable for the Bank’s Enterprise Risk framework, with responsibility for oversight of operational risk and other non-financial risks.

Mike joined Scotiabank in 1996 and has held progressively senior positions in Sales Management, Marketing, Wealth Management, Retail Banking and Product Development. Most recently, he led the creation and implementation of Scotiabank’s enterprise-wide data strategy as Executive Vice President and Chief Data Officer.

Mike has served on a variety of Scotiabank subsidiary and other external boards, and is an active member of the community supporting a number of not for profit organizations in a board or advisory capacity. Mike is a passionate champion for gender equality, and a founder of Scotiabank’s HeForShe movement.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business.

Mike resides in the Greater Toronto Area with his wife and three children.

As Executive Vice President, Rania Llewellyn is responsible for Scotiabank’s global payments vision and strategy. Rania will oversee an enterprise-wide payments mandate, including technology infrastructure development, enhancing operational efficiencies, and key initiatives to drive growth and create a seamless customer experience. In this role, Rania is also responsible for the execution of the Bank’s Cash Management, Trade Finance, Global Business Payments and Correspondent Banking businesses.

Rania joined Scotiabank in 1994 and has held a number of progressively senior roles across Commercial Banking, Roynat Capital, Retail Banking and Corporate Banking. Most recently, as Senior Vice President, Global Transaction Banking she was responsible for the development and execution of all cash management, payments and trade finance products and services for Scotiabank’s business customers, including Financial Institutions.

Rania is an innovative thinker and dedicated change-agent, who has delivered new programs and products for multiple customer segments. While in Global Transaction Banking, Rania was widely-recognized for her track record of driving a digital transformation throughout the business and for introducing Agile methodology for her team, leading to improved customer experiences, new, innovative products and stronger business results.

Born in Kuwait, Rania immigrated to Canada from Egypt in 1992. Her early experiences as a newcomer have shaped her perspective and given her a strong sense of social responsibility. Rania is a resident of Toronto, a wife and mother of two children.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce, MBA and honorary doctorate from Saint Mary’s University.

Loretta Marcoccia was appointed Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer (COO), Global Banking and Markets in December, 2018.  In this role, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Global Banking and Markets and for developing and implementing strategy and priority initiatives.

Loretta joined Scotiabank in 2015 as Managing Director and COO for Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities before taking on the expanded role of Managing Director and COO of Global Capital Markets. In her most recent role, Loretta led global wholesale operations, regulatory initiatives, global analytics and financial engineering.

Before joining Scotiabank, Loretta held a number of increasingly senior roles and was, ultimately, Managing Director and Country COO at a global corporate and investment banking firm in Canada.

Loretta holds a BA with a Specialist in Administration from the University of Toronto. She is a member of Scotiabank’s Inclusion Council and Global Banking and Markets’ Diversity and Inclusion Committee.  She served on the inaugural Board of Directors for Women in Capital Markets.

Loretta is married and has two children.

As Executive Vice President and Group Treasurer, Tom McGuire is responsible for managing Scotiabank’s global treasury and investment operations, including medium-term and capital funding, asset/liability management, liquidity and public and private investment portfolios.

Tom joined Scotiabank in 2018 as Deputy Treasurer, with responsibility for the bank’s funding and liquidity. Prior to joining Scotiabank, Tom held leadership positions across the financial services industry, most recently as Treasurer for Barclays Americas and Barclays US LLC. Tom practiced law at a New York law firm focusing on securities and international business transactions and served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Major.

Tom holds a BA from Harvard University and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law. He is the executive sponsor of Scotiabank’s Employee Resource Group for Military Talent (Scotiabank Veterans Network). 

As Chief Risk Officer for Scotiabank, Daniel Moore is responsible for global management of risk, including enterprise, credit and market risk. Prior to his appointment in April 2017, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Market Risk Officer.

Daniel is a member of the Bank’s operating committee, as well as the senior risk policy, asset liability, market risk, and credit committees.

Daniel joined Scotiabank in 1997 and has held progressively senior roles in Toronto, Europe and Asia. Prior to becoming Chief Market Risk Officer in 2016, Daniel ran the Global Banking and Markets business in Asia- Pacific. He brings a strong focus in developing risk management strategies that align with the Bank's risk tolerance, business objectives and customer focus.

Daniel holds a D. Phil. in Theoretical Physics from Oxford University and a B.Sc. from Queen’s University.

He and his wife Deborah have three daughters.

Gillian Riley is Executive Vice President, President & CEO, Tangerine. She was appointed to this role in December, 2018, with responsibility for setting and driving Tangerine’s strategic objectives to solidify its position as Canada’s leading digital bank. She is also the Chair of Roynat Capital and the lead executive champion of The Scotiabank Women Initiative.

Since joining Scotiabank in 1994, Gillian has held senior leadership positions in Retail, Small Business, Commercial Banking and Operations groups. In her previous position as Executive Vice President, Canadian Commercial Banking, Gillian directed the management of several integrated businesses providing corporate finance solutions to businesses across Canada.

Gillian holds an MBA from the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford in Connecticut and a BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. She is President of the Canadian Club of Toronto and a Director of the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation. 

As Executive Vice President, Chief Digital Officer, Shawn Rose is responsible for building an enterprise-wide digital banking team to execute on the Bank’s digital transformation. He first joined Scotiabank in June 2016 as Executive Vice President, Digital Banking and was appointed to this position in November 2017.

Shawn leads a new team that brings together the digital functions across the Bank to drive the innovation agenda and build out Scotiabank’s digital sales and marketing capabilities to deliver the best customer experience and operational efficiency in our markets.

Shawn has more than 20 years of experience in digital transformation and product management in globally complex and FinTech organizations. Prior to joining Scotiabank, he served as Group Chief Product Officer at Moneysupermarket (MSM) Group PLC, a British price comparison service specializing in financial services, and previously as a Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Core Platforms at Pearson PLC, the largest education company and book publisher in the world. He also held senior roles at Ustream, FOX Broadcasting and CBS Interactive, served as an advisor at Hulu.com, and as a technical product lead and manager at AltaVista, AOL and Yahoo! Inc.

A graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor in Psychology, Shawn is a passionate advocate for STEM education as a tool for equality and is an active fundraiser for the Palo Alto Unified School District.

Shawn and his wife, Christine, have two children.

Adrián Otero joins us from BBVA where he was the Head of Wholesale Banking responsible for Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Government Coverage, Real Estate and Consumer Finance. He was also the Head of Investment Banking, providing strategic and financial advisory to local and international companies.

Prior to the above role, Mr. Otero held a number of positions within BBVA Bancomer, including Head of Corporate and Investment Banking and Head of Client Coverage. As Head of the latter, he was responsible for the coverage of the top 100 Corporate clients, offering innovative and tailor-made solutions through Industry specialized teams; Energy, Infrastructure, Industrials, Telecom, Retail and Mining. Mr, Otero also has industry specific expertise, having served as MD of the Energy and Infrastructure sector within the Client Coverage team. He also worked on the Capital Markets team, where he was responsible for originating and structuring debt issuances as well as syndicated loans.

Before joining BBVA, Mr. Otero formed part of the investment management team at UBS, as well as the Private Bank of BBV, where he implemented and monitored financial plans for high net worth individuals.

Mr. Otero has a bachelors degree in business administration from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey and an MBA from the European School of Economics in London.

Francisco Sardon was appointed Executive Vice President and Country Head of Chile in November 2017. He is also President of the Board of Scotia Administradora General de Fondos Chile S.A., Scotia Corredores de Seguros Chile Ltda., and CAT Administradora de Tarjetas S.A. Francisco joined Scotiabank in 2004 and has held a number of senior executive roles across Peru and Chile. He was, most recently, Senior Vice President, CEO & Country Head Scotiabank Chile from August 2013 to November 2017. He is Board Member of the Chilean Banking Association, as well as member of its CEO´s Committee.

As Executive Vice President and Country Head of Chile, Francisco is responsible for overseeing all of Chile’s personal, small business and commercial banking operations.

Throughout his career in Scotiabank, he has also held important roles in the industry as Board Member of Profuturo Administradora de Pensiones in Peru, the Canadian-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce, and Instituto Peruano de Acción Empresarial (IPAE). Prior to joining Scotiabank, Francisco was Senior Vice President, CEO & Country Head of Standard Chartered Bank Peru, Board Member of the Peruvian Banking Association, member of its CEO´s Committee, and Chief Financial Officer of Banco Financiero. He has also sat on the Boards of Transbank, Redbanc and Nexus, the three largest payment and transaction networks in Chile.

Francisco Sardon holds a Law Degree from Universidad Católica Santa María from Peru, he has a DPA in Business Administration from Universidad Adolfo Ibañez from Chile, and he is graduated from the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School from USA.

Anya Schnoor was appointed Executive Vice President, Retail Products for Canadian Banking in November 2017. In this role, Anya and her team are responsible for designing and delivering financial solutions that drive growth through Scotiabank’s Canadian branch network, call centres and digital channels.

A native of Jamaica, Anya’s experience in the financial services sector in the Caribbean spans more than 25 years in the areas of wealth management, insurance and banking. She is widely-recognized as a strong business leader in the Caribbean Region.

Anya first joined Scotiabank Jamaica in 2006 as Senior Vice President, Investments & Wealth, International Banking based in Jamaica. Since that time, she has taken on increased levels of responsibility for Scotiabank business across the region including, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Trinidad & Tobago, International Banking from 2012-2016, and most recently Senior Vice President and Head, Caribbean South & East, International Banking from 2016-2017 with responsibility for the Bank’s business across 12 countries in the Caribbean.

Anya has served on a variety of Scotiabank subsidiary and other external boards, and is an active member of the community. Most recently she served on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Trinidad and Tobago and she is currently a member of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) which is an organization dedicated to supporting the next generation of women leaders.

Anya holds a Master of Business Administration from Barry University and a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and International Business from Florida International University.

Kevin is the Executive Vice President, Canadian Commercial Banking for Scotiabank, a position he has held since December 2018. In this role, he is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic objectives for Commercial Banking and Automotive Finance in Canada.

Kevin joined Scotiabank in Calgary in 1992 as a Teller.  He has held progressively senior roles in Personal and Commercial Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, Wealth Management, Finance and Global Risk Management. In 2001 Kevin joined International Banking, where he played a leading role in supporting the Bank’s international units throughout the Caribbean, Central America, and Asia including appointments as Managing Director of the Bank’s Caribbean East region and Managing Director and Country Head of Scotiabank (Bahamas) Limited. In 2013 he returned to Canada as Senior Vice President of Scotiabank’s Automotive Finance business. Kevin is currently a Director of Tangerine.  

Kevin holds a B.Comm (Finance) from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, and an MBA from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. 

Kevin and his wife, Karine, live in Oakville, Ont. with their six children.

Maria Theofilaktidis is Executive Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer & Head of Enterprise Risk, with responsibility for the implementation of an enterprise-wide strategy for effectively managing compliance risk across the Scotiabank group, aligned with corporate strategies and regulatory requirements.

Previous to this position Maria was Executive Vice President, Retail Distribution, Canadian Banking, responsible for defining and implementing the strategic direction, goals and execution of key initiatives for Retail and Small Business Distribution in Canada.

Since joining Scotiabank in 2002, Maria has held various positions including Senior Vice President of Retail, Small Business & Wealth Management, Senior Vice President and Chief Accountant, Vice President, Financial Accounting and Reporting, Vice President, Capital Management, and Vice President, Professional Practice and Executive Office Audit.

Maria is a strong advocate for Diversity and Inclusion. She is also the Executive Champion for Women at Scotiabank.

She is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accounting at the University of The Witwatersrand, South Africa, and gained significant financial experience with KPMG’s National Office and Financial Services and Insurance Practices in Canada and South Africa.

She is a proud Greek-Cypriot South African Canadian who is married with three wonderful children.

Phil joined Scotiabank in 1997 and has progressed through a series of increasingly senior positions across the Bank, including roles in Retail Banking, Digital Channels, Contact Centres and Risk Management.

Phil is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for Customer Insights, Data & Analytics globally.  He was appointed to his current position in June 2019, most recently having served as Executive Vice President & Chief Retail Risk Officer.

He holds a BA (Economics & Political Science) from Dalhousie University. Phil contributes his time to organizations such as the YMCA, Scotiabank’s Inclusion Council and Scotiabank’s Women Initiative Advisory Board.

Miguel Uccelli was appointed Executive Vice President and Country Head of Peru, in November 2017. Miguel also currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Scotiabank Peru, Chairman of the Board of CrediScotia Financiera, Profuturo AFP, Scotia Peru Holdings and other Scotiabank subsidiaries in Peru. Miguel joined Scotiabank in October 2014 as Senior Vice President and Head of Retail Banking. In April 2015, Miguel was appointed as Senior Vice President and Country Head of Scotiabank Peru.

As Executive Vice President and Country Head, Peru, Miguel oversees all of Peru’s retail, small business and commercial banking operations.

Prior to joining Scotiabank, Miguel spent more than nine years in one of the leading banks in Peru, where his roles included Executive Vice President & Head of Retail Banking CEO of a Real Estate company. Previously, Miguel was Vice President of Global Investment Banking at two global banks in New York from July 1998 to March 2004.

Miguel received his MBA from The Wharton School in 1998, graduated from the General Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2008 and holds two Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from Universidad del Pacífico in 1992 and 1993.

Ashley Veasey was appointed Executive Vice President & Global Chief Information Officer, Business Technology in 2018. In this role, he is responsible for both strategy and delivery of banking technology across Scotiabank, globally.

Before joining Scotiabank, Ashley held several key senior executive leadership roles in technology spanning both regional and global portfolios with organizations including Barclays, Standard Chartered Bank, The McLaren Group, JP Morgan, and Citibank. He is an experienced digital leader with a deep understanding of both major and developing markets having lived and worked in several international locations across Europe, Asia and Africa.

Prior to his current role, Ashley held the position of CIO and Chief Digital Officer for Barclays and was responsible for the transformation of technology as well as leading a fundamental change in the Bank’s Digital and innovation strategy. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Computer Science & Management from the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom.

Ashley is married to Sarah and they have five children.

Raj Viswanathan was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Scotiabank in November 2018. In this role, Raj oversees the Finance Department, including Investor Relations, Taxation, Economics, Strategic Transactions, Procurement and Group Treasury functions at the Bank, as well as the Structural Cost Transformation project.  

Raj first joined Scotiabank in 2002 and has held progressively senior positions in Internal Audit and Finance since that time.  In 2014, Raj was appointed Senior Vice President & Chief Accountant.  In this role, Raj was responsible for overseeing the Chief Accountant’s group which includes Group responsibilities for: Capital Management, Accounting Policies & Procedures, and Financial Analysis and Reporting. In this role, Raj also led the Bank’s multi-year Finance Transformation project. 

Raj is married and has one son. 

Chadwick is responsible for setting the strategy and implementation of enterprise-wide productivity improvement. Initiatives under his leadership support achieving the Bank’s productivity goals, including efforts to reduce costs, accelerate revenue growth, and simplify processes through lean re-engineering and smart automation. Appointed to his current role in November, 2018, he also has financial management oversight for Canadian Banking.

Chadwick joined Scotiabank in 2002, and has earned a strong reputation for transformation leadership and driving business results. He has held wide-ranging positions across Canadian Banking, Wealth Management, International Banking, Global Banking and Markets, and corporate functions including Global Risk Management and Operations. Prior to his appointment, Chadwick was Senior Vice President, Structural Cost Transformation & Lean, where he led the Bank’s significant multi-year cost transformation program. He also served as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Canadian Banking.

He earned a BA in Economics and Management from the University of Waterloo, and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He is an active advocate of Diversity & Inclusion, including participating on the Scotiabank Inclusion Council, and as a member of the Scotiabank Women Initiative Advisory Board.

Chadwick and his wife Kimberley, have a son and daughter.
